Born at Mirecourt, 1866. Apprenticed to Paul Bailly; worked for Blanchard at Lyons, 1890; established at Marseilles. Graceful and beautiful, significant and dignified in form; inspired by examples of Vuillaume, outlined after Stradivarius, Oil varnish of orange red tint (prepared after formula of Vuillaume). harmonises with sumptuousness of the wood. Tonal quality of considerable strength and resonance. This attractive violin is in very good condition and has a warm, full tone. |
